Clubs, Leadership & More

Clubs, Leadership & More

At NEJA, clubs play a vital role in enriching student life and supporting personal growth beyond the classroom. They offer meaningful opportunities for students to explore their interests, build new skills, and form connections with peers who share their passions. Through participation in clubs, students grow as individuals, collaborators, and leaders.

Leadership Roles

  • Student Council (SC): Elected Student Council representatives meet regularly with the Head of School and other administrators to discuss campus policies, student concerns, and school culture. SC officers are elected annually, serving one or more academic years. In addition to planning events and initiatives, the Student Council oversees all student-led clubs in collaboration with the appropriate academic departments.
  • School Ambassadors: Represent NEJA at admissions events and school functions, serving as welcoming and knowledgeable guides for prospective families.

  • Team Captains: Provide leadership on and off the court, supporting teammates and representing the school with sportsmanship and pride.
  • Club Leaders: Guide and manage student-led clubs, helping to plan activities, engage members, and ensure the club runs smoothly in partnership with faculty advisors.
  • Internships: Provide students with hands-on professional experience, allowing them to explore career interests, develop skills, and contribute meaningfully to the school or broader community.
  • National Honor Society: National Honor Society is a prestigious leadership role that recognizes students for their academic excellence, character, service, and commitment to making a positive impact within the school and broader community.

Special Programs at NEJA

Life at NEJA extends far beyond the classroom. Throughout the year, students participate in a wide range of experiences that build friendships, inspire leadership, and create lasting memories. These activities strengthen our community and reflect the values we hold dear.

Field Trips:
Hands-on learning comes to life through thoughtfully planned field trips that connect classroom lessons to real-world experiences. Trips are designed to enrich academic, cultural, and social learning at all grade levels.

Israel Advocacy & Jewish Engagement:
Our students actively participate in Israel advocacy efforts. Lower school engages in appropriate speakers, activities, and fundraising efforts, while middle school and high schoolers have attended rallies, conferences, and hostage awareness events. These experiences empower students to raise their voices, support Israel, and engage deeply with Jewish identity and global responsibility.

Better Together Program:
NEJA is proud to participate in the Better Together program for High School, which fosters intergenerational connections through meaningful relationships between students and local seniors. Together, they learn, share stories, and build bonds across generations.

Guest Speakers:
Throughout the year, NEJA hosts a variety of guest speakers—ranging from community leaders and scholars to Holocaust survivors and industry professionals—who inspire, educate, and spark meaningful conversations for all grades.

High School Retreat:
We kick off the year with a retreat focused on team building, bonding, and welcoming new students. Through games, group challenges, and personal introductions, students develop strong connections that set a positive tone for the year ahead.

Color War:
One of the most exciting days of the year, Color War brings the entire NEJA community together for a full day of fun, friendly competition, and school spirit. Students across all grades are split into teams and participate in games, challenges, and creative activities that promote teamwork, energy, and unity.

High School Lock-In & 8th Grade Dinner:
A beloved NEJA tradition, the Lock-In is an overnight event at school packed with fun activities, a shared dinner, senior tributes, and time to relax with friends. Students enjoy the unique experience of spending the night in the school building—creating memories they’ll talk about all year. 8th graders are invited to join for dinner with the high schoolers to begin to experience the exciting high school life at NEJA.
