Our network of support services helps our students develop, grow, and thrive—emotionally, socially, and academically. As they get to know each student, our caring, involved teachers, administrators, Resource instructors, guidance counselors, and advisors encourage open and frequent communication. Our dedicated teachers and administration meet regularly to review each student's progress, collaborate on strategies, and ensure that every learner is growing academically, socially, and emotionally, as they should.
Our team also maintains close contact with families, working with parents and professionals to manage social and emotional issues, solve educational challenges, and address learning differences. Through effective communication, thoughtful support systems, and one-on-one relationships, we help our students achieve success.
Counseling
School counselors promote wellness and help our students develop the mindset, knowledge, insight, and skills needed to promote wellness and make judicious decisions. Our professional counselors work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and administrators to support our students’ emotional, behavioral, intellectual, and social development.
Our counselors offer:
- A safe place for students to speak in confidence, individually or in groups, as well as in conflict-mediation meetings
- Support for new students and families adjusting to life at NEJA
- Division-wide and school-wide programming for students promoting health, wellness, positive coping skills, and self-actualization
- Referrals to outside agencies and professionals
Resource Center
We understand that students learn and process information differently. In our Resource Center, we prepare those with various learning differences to develop the skills and strengths they need to be independent and successful at NEJA and beyond. Skill support for students, support from teachers, and a hub for collaboration between student support teams.
We encourage students to identify their strengths, passions, challenges, and desires as they investigate and pursue varied academic, extracurricular, and personal interests.
