ECC Preschool Teacher

New England Jewish Academy in West Hartford, CT, is seeking a full-time ECC Preschool Teacher.  Qualified candidates will have a BA/BS degree in Early Childhood Education and at least one year of teaching experience in an ECE program.   The candidate will possess clear communication skills, verbally and in written form, and have a basic proficiency with computers. Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia educational philosophy is preferred.  A willingness to learn more is required.  In addition, the ideal candidate will:

- Demonstrate an understanding of the developmental stages and needs of young children and support them in a gentle and nurturing manner; 
- Plan, supervise, and implement child-directed classroom programs that are emergent and inquiry-based as well as in accordance with the policies of the school and the requirements of licensing agencies. 
- Engage in ongoing evaluation and assessment procedures needed to assess children’s developmental levels and support curriculum planning.
- Maintain ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, and learning environment of the classroom, with a clear focus on documentation of the children’s work.
- Value parents as important partners in the work of the school by maintaining frequent contact and having the ability to work with parents in the classroom.
- Participate in recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth. 
- Work in full collaboration with the ECC Judaic Studies teacher and participate in all team meetings
- Support the Jewish mission and values of NEJA.

General Studies Teacher

New England Jewish Academy, a private school located in West Hartford, CT, is seeking a dynamic, motivated, growth-oriented Lower School/Middle School teacher for the upcoming school year. The position can be part-time or full-time.

Responsibilities include:
- Implementing "best practice" strategies in the classroom while recognizing individual learning styles and needs;
- Teaching and mentoring students as a class, in small groups, and one-on-one
- Assessing students’ skills to determine their needs and to develop a teaching plan
- Planning, organizing, and assigning learning activities that are specific to each student’s abilities
- Regularly communicating students’ progress with parents, the principal, and the school social worker.
- Developing and maintaining effective relationships with teachers and parents. 
- Preparing students to transition from grade to grade.
- Active participation in professional development opportunities and a willingness to grow as a teacher and a learner.

High School Hebrew Language Teacher

New England Jewish Academy in West Hartford, CT, is looking for a Middle and High School Hebrew Language teacher. The ideal candidate will have at least 1-2 years of teaching experience and will :
- Be fluent in Hebrew (Speaking, Reading, and Writing)
- Have a comprehensive understanding of Israeli Culture 
- Plan, prepare, and deliver active learning experiences 
- Provide an environment that encourages participation, recognizes the needs of individual students and the entire group, and offers support and flexibility as needed
- Continually assess student progress toward mastery of standards and keep students and parents well-informed of student progress by collecting and tracking data

Early Childhood Assistant

New England Jewish Academy located in West Hartford, CT,  is seeking an assistant for its growing Early Childhood division for the 25-26 school year. We are a close-knit group of educators who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of our students. We are looking for someone who is patient, caring, and has a love for teaching. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience in an Early Childhood position or have a degree in a related field.

The assistant will:

- Be responsible for aiding in the overall supervision of a group of preschool children and perform activities that ensure the safety, involvement, and creativity of each individual in the group. 
- Work cooperatively with the lead teachers in the preparation and implementation of daily plans in accordance with the current curriculum and ECC standards
- Be available to conduct daily small-group activities for an assigned group of children 
- Assume responsibility for a classroom as necessary 
- Collect required anecdotes and information for required ongoing assessments  
- Observe and/or participate in parent-teacher conferences  
- Provide coverage for breaks for other staff members  
- Supervise daily lunch and playground activities, field trips and walks
- Promote individualized attention for children 
- Acquire knowledge of and support the current curriculum in the classroom
- Support the mission and values of the school

Director of Teaching and Learning

New England Jewish Academy, an ECC-12th-grade school in West Hartford, CT, is looking for a full-time Director of Teaching and Learning, a key position that reports directly to the Head of School. We are a close-knit group of educators who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of our students. We are looking for someone who is patient, caring, and has a love for education.


The Director of Teaching and Learning is responsible for maintaining academic standards, general and Judaic studies, K-12, prioritizing the Lower School. The Director models and acts in alignment with NEJA’s mission, vision, and core values.  The ideal candidate is a team player with strong interpersonal skills who is committed to helping build a strong school that empowers all students with the academic, character, and life skills they need to succeed and partners with teachers to support teaching and learning.  We seek a Director who is committed to working with determination, integrity, and purpose. All responsibilities will be carried out in coordination with and under the supervision of the Head of School.

Responsibilities: 
The Director of Teaching and Learning will:


o   Coordinate and lead all school improvement efforts
o   Review curriculum and oversee execution
o   Support differentiation in all classes
o   Plan and deliver K-12 professional development activities
o   Coordinate student placements 
o   Compile and submit required state and federal reporting
o   Arrange mentoring for new teachers, as required
o   Supervise and evaluate teachers
o   Oversee exam schedules and create midterm schedules
o   Facilitate and oversee the execution of school learning-related policies
o   Participate in hiring new staff
o   Review report cards each quarter
o   Review exams and teacher materials
o   Oversee the learning center and participate in all IEP meetings
o   Participate in administrative meetings
o   Participate in grade meetings
o   Participate in the new student recruiting process
o   Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School


Qualifications: 
Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.
Knowledge of current and best practices in the assigned areas, including curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
Have a broad background in both general and Judaic studies. 
Ability to coach and lead professional development.
Ability to utilize, analyze, and interpret data for decision making.
Communicates effectively, proactively, and respectfully with all stakeholders.
Ability to work collaboratively with other faculty to move the school forward.
Previous supervisory and/or administrative experience.
Represents the school’s mission and core values while demonstrating integrity, accountability, sincerity, patience, flexibility, and humility.
Exceptional writing, interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
Graduate degree in a related field.

- Value parents as important partners in the work of the school by maintaining frequent contact and having the ability to work with parents in the classroom;
- Participate in recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth. 
- Work in full collaboration with the Kindergarten lead teacher and participate in all team meetings
