About New England Jewish Academy

Building Jewish Leaders

Where academic excellence and Jewish passion converge

Holistic education: nurturing minds, hearts and souls

At New England Jewish Academy, we believe in providing a well-rounded education that doesn’t only nurture the minds of our students, but molds them into responsible, independent, emotionally healthy individuals with the confidence and ability to maximize their potential.

With a one-to-three teacher-student ratio, our dedicated teachers have the unique opportunity to tailor their lessons to meet each student’s individual needs and abilities. Our curriculum is a rich tapestry that seamlessly weaves together both robust secular and Judaic studies, preparing students to excel not only in higher education but also in Jewish life and the broader world.

A New England Jewish Academy education doesn’t just impart knowledge. It gives students the foundation they need to lead fulfilling lives and positively impact the world around them.

Early Childhood: Building deep foundations for success

The Reggio Emilia Approach is an educational philosophy that places the child at the center of their own learning experience. Reggio-trained teachers view children as competent and capable of helping direct their own learning, nurturing their innate curiosity, and allowing that curiosity to inform the learning process.

As children discover their areas of interest, teachers observe and listen, gaining a deep understanding of each individual child’s strengths and needs. The Reggio approach not only fosters students’ cognitive development but also nurtures their holistic well-being, promotes strong independent thinking skills, and instills a foundational love of learning that accompanies students for a lifetime.

This educational approach perfectly aligns with NEJA’s commitment to supporting every aspect of students’ growth, whether cognitive, social, emotional, physical, or spiritual. It also serves as a major attraction to young parents directly contributing to the growth of the school.

Cultivating Connection to Israel in the Classroom and Beyond

Love for the Jewish homeland features prominently throughout our curriculum. Starting in early childhood, the students begin to master Hebrew language. As they mature, our students build abiding connections to Israel and its people, even becoming proud, vocal activists on her behalf. Reaffirming our commitment to deepening Jewish identity, the majority of our students participate in gap year programs in Israel, attending yeshiva and seminary, further enhancing their understanding and connection to Jewish heritage and value.

Academic education: elevating standards for Judaic & secular studies

Our unwavering commitment to excellence extends to both Judaic and secular studies. We focus on nurturing our students’ Jewish knowledge base and honing their skills in Torah learning, as well as meeting and even surpassing state academic standards.

Our students’ SAT scores consistently surpass regional averages, outshining even the esteemed West Hartford public schools. The majority of our seniors are accepted to their first-choice universities. Each student is recognized as a unique individual, and every accomplishment, regardless of its size, is celebrated with enthusiasm.

To further bolster our commitment to academic excellence, we invest in professional development to keep our educators at the forefront of educational innovation. We continually review and refine our curriculum to align with evolving
standards, and our small class sizes allow for personalized attention, fostering an environment where every student can excel academically.
