Earlier this week, 12 of our high schoolers worked together like a well trained team at FoodShare, sorting, inspecting, labeling, and packaging over 6,503 pounds of food for delivery to local food pantries all over the region. They accomplished a great deal in a short amount of time. Feeding the hungry is one of the most basic and important mitzvot in Jewish life, but we don’t often have the opportunity to do so. This hands-on activity allowed our students to actively participate in fulfilling this mitzvot and left everyone feeling elevated with joy.
