NEJA’s Maya Schwartz Awarded 2020 Henry M. Zachs Spirit of Judaism Award

MAZEL TOV to Steven Kleinman and NEJA’s very own Maya Schwartz on receiving the 2020 Henry M. Zachs Spirit of Judaism Award at the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford’s 2020 Annual Meeting & Celebration. Inspired by her mother, Maya’s passion for teaching Hebrew language is exemplified through her interactions with our elementary school children. Maya’s greatest joy is when her former students speak to her in Hebrew or recall the things she taught them. Her heartfelt remarks can be heard below

NEJA Donates Masks to UConn Medical Center

Under the guidance of NEJA faculty member Zach Towne (center), he and new graduate Asaf Glahn (right) have been creating reusable face shields using the 3D printer in the school’s Curtis Robinson Center for Business and Innovation. Yitz Moss (left), co-President of NEJA’s Board of Directors, will be donating the masks to the UConn Health Center and other community organizations.

NEJA Mishmar

Our first NEJA Mishmar was a blast! Students, parents, and community members attended and had a wonderful time. The event featured a Musical Community Havdalah, Torah Study, and inspiring talks from NEJA faculty members Rabbi Fried and Rabbi Jeremias.
