Head of School

New England Jewish Academy (NEJA), an Orthodox pre-K -12 day school in West Hartford, CT, is seeking a Head of School.

The Head of School serves as the CEO of the school, both as the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Educational Officer. He or she promotes a vision for the school’s future and works with the professional staff and lay leadership to bring about that vision. The Head of School should
serve as a role model of the school’s core values and a leader within the West Hartford/Western New England Jewish communities.

Director of Admissions

New England Jewish Academy (NEJA), an Orthodox pre-K -12 day school in West Hartford, CT, is seeking a PT/FT Director of Admissions, with a May/Jun 2023 start date.

Newly unified on our beautiful campus, NEJA is poised for continued enrollment growth. Our ideal applicant will possess warmth and empathy. He or she will be a self-starter who is very well organized, a great communicator, has superb customer service skills and exhibits a warm, friendly and kind demeanor at all times. The candidate will be comfortable interacting with children of all age groups and families of all backgrounds.

The Director of Admissions will perform a wide range of tasks falling under the broad categories below:

  1. Manage the admission process from inquiry through enrollment and retention.
  2. Proactively recruit and provide outreach to families within a 1-hour radius of the school.
  3. Manage the financial aid, grant processes and tuition agreements.
  4. Work closely with the Head of School, Principals, Director of Finance and faculty.
  5. Communicate comfortably with all stakeholders.
  6. Coordinate and lead all individual and group recruitment tours.
  7. Coordinate and oversee all admissions events.
  8. Manage the re-enrollment process for students.
  9. Prepare reports for the Board of Directors and the Head of School.
  10. Assist with grant writing and school communications.

The successful candidate will hold an Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred), have 3-plus years of experience in a similar role and have an in-depth understanding of the Jewish religion and culture. The applicant must be able to maintain complete confidentiality, have strong oral and written communication skills and excellent computer skills, including experience with Google Suite applications and Excel.

Salary range is $40,000-50,000. Medical and dental insurance are offered, along with vacation, reduced summer hours and holidays (Jewish, federal and school holidays are observed.) Please submit a resume to

High School Judaic Studies Teacher

New England Jewish Academy, an Early Childhood -12th grade Orthodox day school in the vibrant West Hartford, CT Jewish community, is looking for a High School Judaic Studies teacher. This is a full time position with ample prep time during the day. The subjects to be taught include Chumash, Gemara, Navi, Dinim and Israeli History. There is also a full-time or part-time teaching position for a spouse, as well. The ideal candidate will:

Qualifications:

Candidates should have a commitment to help students develop the skills and critical thinking abilities they will need to grow as learners. The ideal candidate will have an interest in professional growth and a commitment to continuous learning. Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree is preferred.

Elementary/Middle School Judaic Studies Teacher

New England Jewish Academy, an early Childhood – 12th Grade Orthodox school in the West Hartford community is looking for an Elementary/Middle School Judaic Studies teacher. The ideal candidates will inspire our students, infusing them with a love of Torah, making learning real and relevant, nurturing and bringing out the unique strengths of each and every child and challenging them to get out of their comfort zones. The ideal candidate will work with other teachers to solidify a holistic orthodox curriculum.

For the Middle School position, the subjects to be taught are Chumash, Gemara, Mishna, Navi and Dinim. A very important component of both positions is to teach the children about Eretz Yisrael, to connect them with our homeland and to nurture an ahavat Eretz Yisrael.

For the Lower School position the subjects to be taught include Parshat Hashavuah, Yediot Klaliyot, Chumash, Tefilah, Dinim and Eretz Yisrael.
